DESCRIPTION:You are invited to attend a press conference on Monday\, March 6th\, 3:00pm\, at the Independence Chamber of Commerce\, 210 West Truman Road\, Independence\, MO 64050.\n\nArea mayors will join Jackson County Executive Frank White to discuss the proposed tax on sales of marijuana for recreational use. Twenty six (26) municipalities and four (4) counties in the Kansas City metro have placed the issue on the April 4th ballot. If passed by voters\, revenue collected from the 3% tax will be directed to public safety\, community betterment and projects identified by individual entities. The sales tax issue as well as the intended use of the revenue to support the cost of a new public safety building are both issues endorsed by the Chamber board.
